MIAMI, FL – June 6, 2017 – South Florida hip-hop radio personality, “Papa Keith”, in conjunction with 103.5 The Beat and City of Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon of District 5 & Commissioner Francis Suarez of District 4, are proud to announce the first annual “People Matter Fest”— a day celebrating life, unity, and non-violence within the Miami-Dade community, sponsored by Elite Roads and Benji Autos. The festival will take place on Saturday, June 17th, 2017, at 1 p.m.- 6 p.m., at Athalie Range Park (525 NW 62nd St, Miami, FL 33150). The fest is open to the public and requires RSVP at PeopleMatterFest.eventbrite.com for FREE swag bags, while supplies last.

People Matter Fest is a vehicle from Papa Keith’s “Papa Keith 4 People Matter” or #PK4PM millennial movement and social media campaign. The fest will feature a JUNETEENTH Health and Educational Village, Kids Zone, Father & Son 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, Battle of the DJs featuring Pure Funk Dj’s VS. Sugarhill DJ’s, South Florida’s most savory food vendors/food trucks, art exhibits, and more.

Preceding the event will be a citywide call for a 24-Hour Cease Fire. The 24-Hour Cease Fire campaign, sponsored by City of Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo of District 3, aims to challenge residents in Liberty City to put the guns down for 24 hours starting 8 p.m. on June 15th to 8 p.m. June 16th, the day of the fest. The campaign will include a social media memorial dedication each hour to twenty-four different parents who have lost a child from the senseless act of gun violence. The 24-hour dedication will be kicked off by Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, and closed out by Santonio “BLAZE” Carter; father of King Carter— a 6-year-old young boy who was tragically killed by a stray bullet in Miami while playing outside of his apartment complex.

“The People Matter Fest was created to bring people together for one day without any gun violence and negativity,” said Papa Keith. “I just want to bring young people from the community together for a day of peace and unity, music, food and fun.”
