Congresswoman Frederica Wilson’s My Brother’s Keeper Town Hall Meeting to Examine How MBK Programs Are Changing Young Men’s Lives
On Friday, September 16, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson will serve as an honorary host of the My Brother’s Keeper Town Hall meeting at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 46th Annual Legislative Conference. This much-needed forum will examine best practices from around the nation and take a look at how programs are meeting and exceeding the program’s benchmarks. The event also will feature a riveting conversation about the importance of fatherhood and having a strong and committed male role model in a young boy’s life.
The town hall is being produced in partnership with the White House and in coordination with TV One. In addition to panelists who are experts in education, employment and mentoring programs, participants will include Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the National Action Network; Broderick Johnson, White House cabinet secretary and chair of the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force; actor and producer Malik Yoba (TV One’s Bad Dad Rehab and Justice By Any Means); Rickey Smiley, nationally syndicated radio personality and television star of TV One’s Rickey Smiley For Real; Jessie Usher and RonReaco Lee, who star in the Starz series Survivor’s Remorse; and Omari Hardwick, star of the Starz hit Power.
The My Brother’s Keeper Town Hall meeting will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Room 146C, from 12-4:30.
