South Florida Leaders Join Forces To Host Day Of Empowerment For Young Men Of Color

FT. LAUDERDALE – November 5, 2015 – Leaders by Empowerment-Activists by Development (L.E.A.D. Nation) will host a day of empowerment for young men of color in partnership with Broward College and THE K. JULES PROJECT. The event, #IamChange Boys (Em/In) Power Experience will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 9am – 3pm at Broward College South Campus 7200 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, FL.

#IamChange Boys (Em/In) Power Experience is a FREE one day empowerment gathering for middle and high school males of South Florida. Participants will take part in interactive workshops, where they will be engaged in real life scenarios, coupled with experienced presenters, who will give them tools to use to be productive contributing citizens and advocates in this society.

“Our youth cannot imitate what they don’t see,” said Representative Shevrin Jones, Founder of LEAD Nation. “We are calling male professionals and community leaders from all sectors to volunteer their time to mentor and sow into the lives of the next generation of leaders.”

The young men will be paired with educators, elected officials, athletes, business and community leaders throughout the day.

“I’m so passionate about pairing youth with mentors because I would not be where I am today without the many mentors in my life,” said Kerline Jules Chair of the South Florida Youth Summit. “It is important that the business leaders and entrepreneurs alike provide professional development and soft skills for our young people.

TKO: The Fight & the fiction

Participants will also take part in a mentor luncheon that will promote team building, allowing the mentors and the young men to interact and build new connections.

“This is a great opportunity for our young men to get connected to many of the people they aspire to be like,” said Jones.
