Got Education? The Real Meaning of Education

kerline3_3 copy_Low_ResDear Impact Agents,

Reviewing my notes from one of the Congressional Black Caucus 41st Annual Legislative Conference workshops where the topic in discussion was education. On the panel, was a professor from Howard University who went on to break down the real meaning education.

The word education has the root word EDUCE, synonyms: elicit, evoke, inspire, raise, call forth. EDUCE means to draw out something hidden, latent or reserve. It was concluded that TRUE EDUCATION will EDUCE…pull out one’s passion, purpose & calling. Two things come to my mind:

  • The powerful calling that Educators have
  • Degrees are GREAT, but have you really been educated…EDUCEd…evoked in your passion, purpose & calling.

I challenge you today, get Educe, get Educated.
