HRA Business Expo Set for Port au Prince & Washington DC in 2014

Washington, DC, Dec. 24, 2013 – To connect potential investors directly with Haiti’s private sector, the Haiti Renewal Alliance’s 5th Business Investment Expo & Conference will expand to Port au Prince, in addition to the annual gathering in Washington, DC next year.

“The Haiti Renewal Alliance is thrilled to offer this important opportunity to connect potential investors directly with Haiti’s business and government leaders and stimulate investment growth and facilitate transactions,” said Firmin Backer, President of Haiti Renewal Alliance (HRA).

The much-anticipated event offers attendees unique access, fosters partnerships and collaboration, promotes diaspora engagement, and enables the sharing of best practices. Additionally, the 2014 expo in Washington DC will focus largely on global development solutions for the Caribbean and explore the complex issues facing the energy, tourism, infrastructure, technology, and agriculture sectors.

“It is very timely for HRA to broaden its reach to include businesses and investors from other Caribbean countries,” Backer added. “Promoting sustainable development in these emerging markets will help increase the competitiveness of the entire region.”

Since, its launch after the devastating 2010 earthquake, the business expo has attracted over 2000 participants from five countries and 22 states. About 100 companies have showcased their products and services in the marketplace pavilion and 12 entrepreneurs have pitched their ideas during the conference’s signature activity, the Investor’s Tank. The forum is regarded as the premier gathering of private sector executives, investors, entrepreneurs, senior government officials, and non-profit organizations.
