POLITICO, GOOGLE & THE TORY BURCH FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP FOR ‘WOMEN RULE’
Multiplatform Program Dedicated to Women Leading Change
Arlington, Va. – POLITICO, Google and the Tory Burch Foundation announced today a joint partnership to produce extended programming dedicated to exploring how women are leading change in politics, policy and their communities. The program, “Women Rule,” will feature prominent women in power and be brought to life through events, video, print and digital media, polling, social media and products.
“More so now than ever, women are driving the conversation in the political, business and advocacy arenas,” said Kim Kingsley, chief operating officer for POLITICO. “Women Rule is meant to recognize those women and share the innovative ways they are influencing some of the nation’s most important issues. We could not be more thrilled to partner with such well- respected enterprises as Google and the Tory Burch Foundation for this important project.”
The cornerstone of Women Rule will be a four-part, high-profile event series in Washington, D.C. featuring members of Congress, administration officials, leaders in business and entrepreneurs. The discussions, which will also livestream on POLITICO, will examine the steps women leaders are taking to effect change – everything from spurring a movement to passing legislation. In addition, a roundtable conversation will take place at each event modeled on the Tory Burch Foundation’s mentoring events for women entrepreneurs; these discussions will provide an opportunity for influential women to offer advice and guidance to the next generation of leaders. The first Women Rule event is scheduled for September.
“Whether it is a new product or a new policy initiative, women are working to change the world every day,” said Susan Molinari, vice president of Government Relations and Public Policy at Google. “It is time to have an open discussion about the unique issues women face with our next generation of female leaders. Google is delighted to join POLITICO and the Tory Burch Foundation in bringing together people from across the country to be part of this important discussion.”
Next month, POLITICO will launch a Women Rule landing page and unveil the program logo. The online destination will house editorial features, video and a Twitter campaign, each designed to engage women who are passionate about influencing change. The logo will be featured on apparel, which will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the sales will go to charities,
including the Tory Burch Foundation, which supports the economic empowerment of women entrepreneurs and their families through small business loans, mentoring programs and entrepreneurial education.
“POLITICO and Google are known for their innovative leadership and we’re thrilled to be working with them on this series,” said designer and philanthropist Tory Burch. “We believe Women Rule will provide a unique opportunity for a variety of women to share their experiences, inspiring conversations that lead to action and meaningful change benefiting all women and their families.”
More details on Women Rule will be announced in the coming weeks.
